    The Assembly theme, One Body, One Spirit, One Hope, reminds us that in a fragmented world, we are called to unity in the one body of Christ. The theme is drawn from Ephesians 4:4 (NRSV)

    The Assembly program comprises a rich array of events: from the opening ceremony, worship, prayers, Bible study and visits, to plenary sessions and the business of the Assembly.

Jarmark (Marché)

A marketplace for ideas and partnerships 

Jarmark is a Polish word for “fair”. The Thirteenth Assembly Jarmark will be a space for encounter, creativity, transformative action, and visioning.  LWF member churches, related organizations and ecumenical partners will bring life to this space by showcasing their work and opening opportunities for joint exploration on diverse topics.

  • Two activities for participants
  • Purposes and goals
  1. Explore the exhibits on display   
  2. Discover diverse topics through workshops and hear the stories from partners and members of the LWF communion 
  • Provide the space for encounter, dialogue and learning  
  • Facilitate learning and sharing of good practices through theme-based exhibitions and workshops 
  • Provide the space for showcasing examples of the work that is being done in all corners of the Lutheran Communion, as well as for artistic and creative expression of ideas and feelings    

Official opening and workshop schedule  

The Jarmark exhibition space will officially open with a simple ceremony on 13 September at 16h00 in the afternoon.   The exhibit will then be open the whole duration of the Assembly and will close on 19 September at 17h00.  The workshops shall be held on Saturday 16 September from 15:00-16:30 and Monday 18 September from 15:00 to 16:30.

Discover the LWF Assembly, the host church, Poland, and its vibrant people 

Prior to the Assembly, the visitors program invites all interested groups and individuals to explore the vibrant work of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland and the country’s rich history. At the Assembly, visitors can also learn more about the LWF and its work. The program includes participation in morning worship (in an overflow room) and listening in to specific open plenaries.

Visitors Program 

During the Assembly visitors will have an opportunity to learn more about the Lutheran World Federation and the host church in Poland, the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland. The program allows visitors to participate in the Assembly worship in an overflow room, visit the Jarmark (marketplace), attend some plenary sessions and join in the activities of the global Lutheran Communion at the Assembly.

Pre-Assembly visits 

The Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Poland (ECACP), host church for the LWF Thirteenth Assembly is organizing visits for participants before the Assembly, as an opportunity to learn about the historical context of ECACP and its work in society. 

Participants registered to the program are invited to explore destinations in Southwestern Poland and Cieszyn Silesia, where they can experience the church in action.  They can  see its diaconal work in parishes and local communities, including its efforts for peace and reconciliation, and about the country’s rich history. The visits are open to all assembly participants. 

Those wanting to join the pre-Assembly visits will be responsible for their own participation fee ranging from 375 Euros to 572 Euros. This will cover local travel, accommodation and meals.

Media Accreditation for the Thirteenth Assembly of The Lutheran World Federation

Deadline for journalists in person: 10 June 2023

LWF invites media to report from the Thirteenth LWF Assembly in Krakow, Poland. Accreditation is now open, the deadline for journalists who wish to attend in-person is June 10.

Media are welcome to attend in person or online. Key sessions of the assembly will be streamed online, material will be made available in an online press room, and press briefings will take place online and in-person. Journalists who wish to attend are asked to fill in the accreditation form.

For media attending in person, if you want to take meals at the venue it cost 40 EUR each day. The fee for joining the Visit to the Museum and Memorial Auschwitz-Birkenau is 30 Euros. If you booked your hotel through the Assembly office, please check your payment status.

Deadline for journalists in person: 10 June 2023

LWF invites media to report from the Thirteenth LWF Assembly in Krakow, Poland. Accreditation is now open, the deadline for journalists who wish to attend in-person is June 10.

Media are welcome to attend in person or online. Key sessions of the assembly will be streamed online, material will be made available in an online press room, and press briefings will take place online and in-person. Journalists who wish to attend are asked to fill in the accreditation form.

For media attending in person, if you want to take meals at the venue it cost 40 EUR each day. The fee for joining the Visit to the Museum and Memorial Auschwitz-Birkenau is 30 Euros. If you booked your hotel through the Assembly office, please check your payment status.
